CAO Brazilia Corcovado
The CAO Brazilia Corcovado
This is my first cigar review, so please bear with me.
I originally purchased the CAO Brazilia Corcovado due to the fact that I love a full bodied cigar, and I've been recommended to try it. I got a small box of 5 to share with some friends, and also a sampler which included two more of these (although, a different size in the Gol!, they are the same cigar). I've smoked this particular cigar a few times now, and overall I'm fairly impressed. This particular last stick I decided to do the review on had a plug. Of course, that's nothing a kebab skewer couldn't sort out pretty sharpish (no pun intended).
First thoughts, you're greated by a fantastic green and yellow band against the dark, oily color of cigar. It's a beautifuly crafted cigar that feels tightly wrapped, which does not effect the experience. Personally, I love the fatness of the big 60 ring gauge. It just felt like it belonged in my hand. I know some people don't like that though, there are other sizes you can buy in the range as stated previously.
I chose a punch cut for this cigar as it's one of my favorite cuts. Upon lighting the first time (aside from the plugged one), you get a fairly easy draw with a rich aroma. It wasn't a full on punch in the face that I like when you first light up, but it was still a decent little hit of spices and bitterness. The smoke amount (after skewer, and on others) was fairly large in volume, something I personally really like, which is good for blowing smoke rings. Burning further into the cigar, I felt as though it did change a little bit, almost going to more earthy, wood, tones. The final third, as always, came on much stronger, but didn't really change too much and kept on with the same flavors mixed together. The entire smoke burned fairy evenly, with only a little bit of waviness to the burn line, nothing a little touch up lighter wouldn't fix.
This is definately a full bodied cigar all the way through, and although not the most complex in flavors, it was very enjoyable. I'd buy it again, but probably never a full box. For the price, it's a great cigar, and you can get a 10 cigar sampler (5 different sticks, 2 of each) of different CAO's for a bargain price of $30 (plus shipping) from Cigars International.
